The scope of this project involved demolition, asbestos abatement and construction of a new SICU facility on the fourth floor of the VAPHS.

The project consisted of the renovation of approximately 8,300 GSF of fourth floor space for a new SICU, including demolition of interior mechanical, electrical, plumbing, walls and ceilings, and asbestos abatement. New construction included new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems (including sprinkler system), medical gas system, interior walls and ceilings, roof mounted equipment, emergency panel electrical upgrade, a new nurse call system with intercom and video surveillance, painting, inheritor casework and flooring.

Rocky Bleier Construction Group worked closely with the project COTR to coordinate specialty work throughout the project to complete the work within projected time frames, despite delays caused by unforeseen conditions.

The new SICU is a state-of-the-art facility that represents the construction management skills required to compete a technically complex project within a hospital environment.
